  • Can switch to a cradle cushion on the same frame

Finding your size

Starter packs come with a Small or Standard frame plus Small and Medium pillows; order Large separately if Medium is too small. The Standard frame is larger than the Small. ResMed's starting point is Standard for most men and Small for most women, then adjust: the frame should sit on top of the head like a headband, not close to the eyes or slipping back toward the ears.

How to fit it

  1. Choose the frame

Start with Standard if you have a larger head or Small if you have a smaller one, then confirm with the headband test once it is on.

  2. Fit the pillows

Start with Medium pillows. They should rest at the opening of the nostrils, not be pushed inside.

  3. Put it on

Place the pillows at your nostrils, bring the frame over your head so the elbow sits on top, and pull the back strap down behind your head.

  4. Adjust lying down

With the machine on, lie in your sleep position and tighten the back strap only enough to hold the seal. If air leaks around the pillows at comfortable tension, try another pillow size.

Common problems and fixes

Sore nostrils

Loosen the strap and check the pillow size; too small a pillow gets pushed into the nose. Persistent soreness or broken skin is worth raising with your clinician.

Dry nose

Pillows send air directly into the nose. Your humidifier and heated tubing comfort settings can help, as can saline spray or a CPAP-safe nasal gel.

Frame presses near the eyes or ears

Change frame size: Small if it slides back toward your ears, Standard if it sits forward toward your eyes.

Mouth leaks

Try a chinstrap. If mouth breathing continues, ask your clinician about a full face option.

Cleaning and care

Hand wash the pillows cushion after each use in warm water with a mild liquid detergent. Wash the frame, headgear and elbow the same way at least once a week. Rinse well and air dry out of direct sunlight, making sure the hollow frame is dry. Do not use ozone or UV cleaning devices.

How often to replace parts

Mask
1 complete mask every 3 months (Medicare A7034, nasal interface).
Cushion
Up to 2 sets of pillows per month (Medicare A7033). This is typical insurer guidance; replace sooner if a pillow tears or stops sealing.
Headgear
1 every 6 months (Medicare A7035).

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the AirFit P30i frame with the N30i cushion?

Yes. ResMed designed the N30i and P30i to share one frame and headgear, so you can switch between a nasal cradle cushion and pillows without buying a new frame.

What pillow sizes come with the AirFit P30i?

Starter packs include Small and Medium pillows with either a Small or Standard frame. Large pillows are sold separately.

Does the AirFit P30i have magnets?

No. ResMed lists it as containing no magnets.

What pressure range does the AirFit P30i support?

ResMed lists 4 to 25 cm H2O. Your clinician sets your therapy pressure; if pillows feel too forceful at your prescribed setting, ask about other mask styles rather than changing the pressure yourself.
