F&P Solo Pillows
The nasal pillows version of the F&P Solo, using the same one-size AutoFit headgear and frame as the Solo Nasal with an AirPillow cushion that seals in and around the nostrils. Trade press reported its launch in September 2024.
Usually suits
- People who feel closed in by larger masks
- Side and stomach sleepers who want a small mask
- People with beards or mustaches that break a nasal cushion seal
- People who need a magnet-free mask
Design
- AirPillow cushion that inflates to seal in and around the nose
- AutoFit headgear with AutoLock: stretch on, push in to tighten, pull away to loosen
- Headgear and frame shared with the F&P Solo Nasal
- Operating pressure range 4 to 20 cm H2O
- No magnets (F&P states its masks do not contain magnets)
Strengths and trade-offs
- Very little on the face, nothing over the nose bridge
- No straps to over-tighten
- Magnet-free
- Same headgear works with the Solo Nasal cushion if pillows stop suiting you
- Rated only up to 20 cm H2O
- Pillows put air pressure directly at the nostrils, which some people find drying or sore at higher pressures
- Nasal breathing only; mouth leaks need a chinstrap or a full face mask
- No app sizing for the pillows cushion
Finding your size
The headgear is one size; only the pillows cushion is sized. The F&P myMask app does not size pillows, so F&P suggests starting with Medium, going down a size if your nostrils feel uncomfortable, and going up a size if you have persistent leaks. A fit pack with all three sizes is available.
How to fit it
Check the mask
Remove all packaging, look for cracks or tears and make sure the exhaust holes are clear.
Stretch the headgear on
Anchor the grey strap behind your head and pull forward to stretch the headgear over your head.
Seat the pillows
Place the pillows cushion at your nostrils and put the orange (gold) strap on top of your head.
Connect and turn on
Connect the swivel to your breathing tube and start your machine so the AirPillow inflates.
One-touch adjustment
Push the cushion toward your nose to tighten or pull it away to loosen until it seals without pressing hard.
Common problems and fixes
Nostril soreness
The cushion may be too big or too tight. Loosen it with the pull-away adjustment first; if soreness continues, F&P suggests trying a smaller size.
Persistent leak at the nostrils
Reposition the pillows with the machine running. If the leak continues, F&P suggests trying a larger size.
Dry or congested nose
Heated humidification on your machine can help; saline spray before bed is a common addition. F&P notes therapy may be compromised if your airway is congested, so tell your provider if congestion is ongoing.
Mouth leak and dry mouth
Try a chinstrap. If you still breathe through your mouth, ask your clinician about a full face mask.
Cleaning and care
After each use, take the headgear off the frame and pull the cushion off the frame. Hand wash the frame, tube, swivel and cushion in soap dissolved in lukewarm water, without soaking longer than 10 minutes, then rinse in fresh water until no soap is left and let everything dry out of direct sunlight.
Wash the headgear the same way after 7 days of use, and do not stretch the headgear while it is wet. F&P says not to use products with alcohol, antiseptic, bleach, chlorine or moisturizer, and not to use a dishwasher. Do not try to remove the swivel or the tube from the frame.
How often to replace parts
- Mask
- 1 every 3 months (A7034)
- Cushion
- Up to 2 per month (Medicare A7033), typical guidance; your plan may differ
- Headgear
- 1 every 6 months (A7035)
Supplies that can help
A soft strap that supports the jaw to help keep the mouth closed, used mainly with nasal and nasal pillow masks to reduce mouth leaks.
Salt water spray that moistens and clears the nose, a simple aid for the congestion and dryness some people get on CPAP.
A water-based or saline gel applied inside or around the nostrils to soothe dryness and soreness from CPAP airflow.
Pre-moistened wipes for a quick daily wipe of the mask cushion, mostly to remove skin oils between proper washes.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Solo Pillows and Solo Nasal?
They share the same AutoFit headgear, frame and tube. Solo Nasal uses a cushion that sits under the nose, while Solo Pillows uses an AirPillow cushion that sits in and around the nostrils. The cushions are sold separately and fit the same headgear.
What size Solo Pillows should I start with?
F&P suggests starting with Medium. Go down a size if your nostrils are uncomfortable, or up a size if the mask keeps leaking. The myMask app does not size pillows.
Is the F&P Solo Pillows good for side sleeping?
It is a small, low-profile pillows mask with no side straps, which is the design side sleepers usually look for. Fit still matters more than design, so check for leaks in your usual sleep position.
Can I use Solo Pillows at high pressures?
The instructions list an operating range of 4 to 20 cm H2O. Above that, you need a mask rated for your pressure; talk to your clinician.
