Finding your size
Only the cushion is sized (Small, Medium or Large); the headgear is one size. The F&P myMask app does not size pillows, so a fit pack with all three cushions is the practical way to find your size. The pillows should sit gently in the nostrils and inflate to seal, not be jammed in.
How to fit it
Start loose
Before you put it on, make sure the headgear side straps are not cinched tight.
Seat the MicroPillows
Place the cushion gently at your nostrils so each pillow points into a nostril.
Bring the headgear over your head
Hold the cushion in place and bring the headgear back over your head.
Adjust each side
Turn on your machine and use the adjustments on each side of the headgear to even out the fit until the cushion seals without pressing hard.
Common problems and fixes
Whistling or leak at the nose
Reseat the pillows with the machine running and even out the two side adjustments. If it still leaks, try the next size up from the fit pack.
Sore nostrils
Loosen the headgear first. If soreness continues, try a smaller cushion. Tell your provider about any skin breakdown.
Dry nose
Heated humidification usually helps, and saline spray or a water-based nasal gel can help too.
Dry mouth
Air escaping through your mouth. A chinstrap is a common fix; if it continues, ask your clinician about a full face mask.
Cleaning and care
Follow the instructions that come with your Nova Micro. For F&P masks the usual routine is to wash the cushion and frame after each use in soap dissolved in lukewarm water, rinse until no soap is left and let it air dry out of direct sunlight, and to hand wash the headgear weekly. Avoid cleaners with alcohol, bleach, chlorine or moisturizers, and do not use a dishwasher. The F&P myMask app has a cleaning video for this mask.
