Philips Respironics · Nasal pillows mask
Philips Respironics DreamWear Gel Pillows
A nasal pillows version of DreamWear: silicone tips that sit just inside the nostrils on a blue gel base, mounted on the DreamWear frame with the hose on top of your head. Philips has discontinued the gel pillows mask, and its current pillows cushion for the same frame is DreamWear Silicone Pillows. Existing users may still find remaining stock or need to move to the silicone version.
This mask is no longer made. Parts may still be sold for a while; the alternatives below are the closest current options.
Usually suits
- Existing DreamWear Gel Pillows users finishing their current supply
- Nose breathers who like nasal pillows and a top of head hose
Design
- Silicone nasal pillow tips on a gel base
- Uses the DreamWear frame with top of head tube connection
- No magnets in the headgear
- Open field of view
Strengths and trade-offs
- Very small footprint on the face, with nothing on the nasal bridge
- Hose on top of the head suits side and stomach sleepers
- No magnet contraindication
- Discontinued, so replacement gel pillows will get harder to find
- Pillows sit in the nostrils, which can feel uncomfortable at higher pressures
- Nasal only, so mouth breathing causes leaks
Finding your size
Put the pillow tips into your nostrils and choose the size where the base sits comfortably under your nose with no gaps. Philips notes that pillow sizing comes down to nostril size and personal preference. The medium frame fits most faces; if it sits too close to the eyes or ears, try another frame size.
How to fit it
Size the pillows
Place the pillow tips into your nostrils and pick the size where the base sits comfortably under the nose with no gaps.
Assemble and put on
Attach the pillows cushion to the frame, place the pillows in your nostrils, and bring the frame over the top of your head. Pull the headgear over the back of your head.
Adjust and check
Adjust the headgear tabs so the pillows stay in place without pushing up into your nose. Connect the hose at the top of your head, start the machine and adjust lying down.
Common problems and fixes
Sore nostrils
Pillows that are too big or pushed up too hard cause soreness. Loosen the headgear slightly or try a smaller size. A water based nasal moisturizer gel can help with dryness.
Whistling or hissing at the nostrils
Re seat the pillows so they point straight up into the nostrils. A size up can stop a leak around a pillow that is too small.
Replacement pillows not available
Ask your supplier about the DreamWear Silicone Pillows cushion, which fits the same frame and DreamWear headgear.
Cleaning and care
Hand wash the pillows cushion and frame in warm water with a mild liquid dish soap, rinse well and air dry. Hand wash the headgear and hang it to dry. Check the gel base and silicone tips for tears or exposed gel and replace them if damaged. Do not use bleach, alcohol, or ozone or UV cleaners.

Supplies that can help
A water-based or saline gel applied inside or around the nostrils to soothe dryness and soreness from CPAP airflow.
Salt water spray that moistens and clears the nose, a simple aid for the congestion and dryness some people get on CPAP.
A soft strap that supports the jaw to help keep the mouth closed, used mainly with nasal and nasal pillow masks to reduce mouth leaks.
Plain, mild dish soap is the cleaning agent most CPAP makers and the FDA point to for masks, tubing and humidifier chambers.

Frequently asked questions
Is the DreamWear Gel Pillows mask discontinued?
Yes, retailers carrying it now list it as discontinued by Philips. Philips' current pillows cushion for DreamWear is the Silicone Pillows cushion, which uses the same frame and DreamWear headgear.
Can I put silicone pillows on my DreamWear Gel Pillows frame?
The DreamWear frame is shared across the nasal, full face and pillows cushions, and Philips lists the same frame part numbers for nasal and silicone pillows. Your supplier can confirm the part numbers for your setup.
Does DreamWear Gel Pillows have magnets?
No. Philips' magnet recall covered the DreamWear Full Face version, which uses magnetic clips. The pillows and nasal versions use headgear without magnets.
