ResMed · Under the nose full face mask (hybrid, minimal contact)
ResMed AirTouch F30i (Comfort and Clear)
A fabric version of the AirFit F30i tube-up, under-the-nose full face mask. Both versions use a ComfiSoft cushion that combines breathable fabric with silicone. AirTouch F30i Comfort also has a fully fabric-wrapped frame; AirTouch F30i Clear keeps a clear frame and, per ResMed, is sold in the US only.
The AirTouch F30i Comfort and AirTouch F30i Clear has magnetic headgear clips. It was not one of the masks named in the FDA's January 18, 2024 safety communication on ResMed masks with magnets, but its own labeling carries the same contraindication ResMed adopted in its December 20, 2023 update: do not use it if you, or anyone in close physical contact with you while the mask is in use, has an active medical implant that interacts with magnets (such as a pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator, neurostimulator, cerebrospinal fluid shunt, or insulin or infusion pump) or a metallic implant or object containing ferromagnetic material (such as aneurysm clips, embolic coils, stents, valves, electrodes, certain hearing or balance implants, ocular implants, or metallic splinters in the eye). Keep the mask magnets at least 6 inches (150 mm) away from any implant or medical device that may be affected by magnetic interference. If this applies to you or a bed partner, stop using the mask and ask your clinician or mask provider for a mask without magnets.

Strengths and trade-offs
- Fabric at the seal is an option for people who find silicone uncomfortable or marking
- Tube-up design suits side and stomach sleepers
- Nothing on the bridge of the nose
- Contains magnets, with ResMed's implant contraindication
- Fabric parts must be squeezed dry and take longer to air dry
- ResMed's Clear tip sheet lists the cushion every 2 weeks, more often than many plans cover
- Newer mask, so suppliers may not stock every size yet
Finding your size
ResMed offers three cushion sizes and a 'Find your mask size' video on each product page. The cushion should sit under your nose and around your mouth without overhanging the sides of the nose. The ComfiSoft cushion is interchangeable with AirFit F30i and AirFit X30i cushions, so an existing F30i user can start from their current size and confirm with the supplier.
How to fit it
Release the clips
Unclip the magnetic clips from the frame so the lower straps hang free.
Place the cushion under your nose
Set the cushion under your nose and around your mouth, then pull the headgear and frame over your head with the logo facing up.
Attach the lower straps
Bring the lower straps under your ears and snap the magnetic clips onto the frame.
Adjust evenly
Adjust the upper straps, then the lower straps, pulling each pair evenly and only until it seals.
Connect on top and test
Connect the elbow on top of the frame and your tube to the elbow. Turn the machine on and lie in your usual position to check the seal.
Common problems and fixes
Frame fabric sleeve twisted after washing
ResMed says the sleeve can be repositioned while it is wet.
Fastening tabs snag the fabric
After you detach the headgear, close the fastening tabs so they cannot damage the fabric sleeves.
Leak at the sides of the nose
Re-center the cushion and adjust the upper straps evenly, then ask your supplier to recheck the cushion size.
Cleaning and care
Clean the cushion, including the QuietAir vent, every day; clean the headgear, frame and elbow weekly. Soak parts in warm (about 86°F/30°C) drinking-quality water with a mild liquid detergent, hand wash (the Comfort version needs no brush), rinse under running water, squeeze excess water out of the fabric parts, shake water out of the vent, and air dry on a towel out of direct sunlight.
How often to replace parts
- Mask
- Up to 1 complete mask every 3 months (Medicare A7030)
- Cushion
- Up to 1 per month (Medicare A7031); ResMed's Clear page tip sheet lists every 2 weeks and the Comfort page lists every month, so check your plan
- Headgear
- Up to 1 every 6 months (Medicare A7035)
Supplies that can help
A pillow with cutouts or a contoured edge so a mask and hose are not pushed out of place when you sleep on your side.
Plain, mild dish soap is the cleaning agent most CPAP makers and the FDA point to for masks, tubing and humidifier chambers.
A stand or arm that lifts the tubing above the bed so it does not drag on the mask when you turn over.
