F&P Evora Nasal Mask
A compact nasal mask whose cushion sits under the nose instead of over the bridge. Its CapFit headgear goes on like a cap, and stability wings on the cushion help hold the seal when you move.
Usually suits
- Nose breathers who want a small mask
- People who get red marks or sores on the bridge of the nose from over the nose masks
- People who wear glasses or read in bed
Design
- Under the nose compact cushion with stability wings (F&P calls this Dynamic Support Technology)
- CapFit headgear that is put on like a cap, with an adjustable top strap and back strap
- Tube permanently attached to the frame, with a swivel at the end
- Exhaust holes designed to reduce noise and draft
- Operating pressure range 4 to 25 cm H2O, for adults 66 lb (30 kg) or more
Strengths and trade-offs
- Nothing sits on the bridge of the nose, which avoids the most common nasal mask pressure point
- No magnets, so the magnet contraindication for implanted devices does not apply
- Four seal sizes including a wide option
- Headgear does not need to be loosened each time you take the mask off
- Nasal mask: if you breathe through your mouth during sleep, air escapes unless you add a chinstrap or switch to a full face mask
- Rated to 25 cm H2O, lower than some full face masks rated to 30
- The tube is permanently fixed to the frame, so they are replaced together
Finding your size
F&P publishes a printable Evora Nasal sizing guide: print it at actual size on US Letter or A4 paper, check the printed ruler against a real ruler, cut it out and hold it so it presses against the underside of your nose, then pick the S, M, L or W window that matches. A mirror or another person helps. F&P's myMask app can also suggest a size. The headgear is one size.
How to fit it
Set the top strap
Before the first fit, connect the top strap button to the middle position. This gives you room to adjust in both directions.
Put it on like a cap
Hold the front of the mask and pull the back strap over the back of your head, then pull the mask down so the seal sits under your nose.
Adjust the back strap
Pull the back strap tabs evenly to tighten or loosen the seal against your face. Aim for snug, not tight.
Adjust the top strap
Move the top strap button so the headgear sits just above your ears without touching them. You may need to take the mask off to do this.
Check the seal with air on
Connect the swivel to your CPAP hose, start the machine and lie in your sleeping position. If it leaks, reposition the seal under the nose before tightening anything.
Common problems and fixes
Dry mouth or air escaping from the mouth
A nasal mask only works if your mouth stays closed. Try a chinstrap. If the dry mouth continues, ask your provider about a full face mask such as the Evora Full.
Leak under the nose
Pull the mask forward and reseat the seal rather than tightening. If the seal pushes into the nostrils or gaps at the sides, try a different seal size, including the wide (W) seal.
Headgear rubbing the ears
Adjust the top strap button so the headgear sits just above the ears.
Mask ends up off your face in the morning
Check that the back strap sits low on the back of the head and that the hose has some slack. A hose holder or hose management system reduces tug.
Cleaning and care
F&P instructions: after each use, wash the seal, swivel, frame and tube. After 7 days of use, wash the complete headgear including the top strap and back strap (you do not need to remove the back strap). Hand wash in soap dissolved in lukewarm water, do not soak for more than 10 minutes, rinse well in fresh water and leave to dry out of direct sunlight. Do not use products containing alcohol, antibacterial agents, antiseptic, bleach, chlorine or moisturizer, do not use a dishwasher, and do not use ozone or UV "CPAP cleaners" (the FDA warned about these in 2020).
How often to replace parts

- 1 every 3 months (A7034)

Supplies that can help
A soft strap that supports the jaw to help keep the mouth closed, used mainly with nasal and nasal pillow masks to reduce mouth leaks.
A stand or arm that lifts the tubing above the bed so it does not drag on the mask when you turn over.
Pre-moistened wipes for a quick daily wipe of the mask cushion, mostly to remove skin oils between proper washes.
Plain, mild dish soap is the cleaning agent most CPAP makers and the FDA point to for masks, tubing and humidifier chambers.

Frequently asked questions
Does the F&P Evora nasal mask go over the bridge of the nose?
No. The cushion sits under the nose and around the nostril area, and the frame and tube run up the front of the face to the top of the head. Nothing presses on the bridge of the nose.
What does the W size mean on the Evora seal?
W is a wide seal for noses that are wider than the L seal fits well. The printable sizing guide has a W window so you can check it before ordering.
Can I use the Evora nasal mask if I breathe through my mouth?
It is a nasal mask, so mouth breathing lets pressure escape and can dry your mouth. Some people manage with a chinstrap. Otherwise a full face style such as the Evora Full keeps a similar under the nose design and covers the mouth too.
Do I have to adjust the headgear every time I put the Evora on?
No. Once the back strap and top strap are set, you take the mask off by holding the front, pulling it forward and lifting it over your head, and put it back on the same way.
