F&P Vitera Full Face Mask

A traditional full face mask that covers the nose and mouth. Its RollFit XT cushion rolls with you as you move to hold the seal and reduce pressure on the bridge of the nose.

SizesCushion: S, M, L, Headgear: S and M-L
Works withAll standard CPAP, APAP and BiPAP machines with a 22 mm tube connection (F&P lists it as compatible with all home PAP devices)

Usually suits

  • Mouth breathers
  • People on higher prescribed pressures who need a stable full face seal
  • Restless sleepers who move a lot

Design

  • RollFit XT cushion that adapts as you move
  • Stability bar support zone behind the cushion
  • Adjustable headgear with headgear clips
  • Removable forehead clip to reduce headgear tangling
  • VisiBlue color cues on parts you handle
  • Operating pressure range 4 to 30 cm H2O, for adults 66 lb (30 kg) or more

Strengths and trade-offs

  • Covers nose and mouth, so it works for mouth breathers and people with frequent nasal congestion
  • Cushion and headgear sizes are sold separately
  • No magnets
  • Rated up to 30 cm H2O
  • Larger footprint than under the nose designs; the cushion still contacts the bridge of the nose
  • More of the face is covered, which some people find claustrophobic

Finding your size

Use F&P's printable Vitera sizing guide (print at actual size and check the printed ruler first) or the myMask app. Cushions come in S, M and L, and the headgear comes in S and M-L, so a small face with a large head (or the reverse) can be matched.

How to fit it

  1. Pick sizes

Use the sizing guide to choose the cushion size, and pick S or M-L headgear by head size.

  2. Position the cushion

Hold the mask to your face with the cushion over the nose and mouth, then bring the headgear over your head.

  3. Attach the clips

Attach the headgear clips to the frame. The forehead clip can be removed for cleaning so the straps do not tangle.

  4. Adjust gently with air on

Connect your CPAP hose, turn on the machine and lie in your sleep position. Adjust straps evenly and only as much as needed to stop leaks. The cushion is meant to roll with you rather than be clamped down.

Common problems and fixes

Leak toward the eyes

Readjust the top straps evenly and reseat the cushion with the air running. If it continues, check the cushion size with the sizing guide.

Sore bridge of the nose

Loosen the top straps; over tightening is the common cause. If the bridge still gets sore, ask your provider about an under the nose option such as the Evora Full.

Cushion leaks more after a few weeks

Silicone loses its seal as it ages and collects skin oil. Wash it daily and replace it on schedule.

Cleaning and care

F&P instructions: hand wash the mask (excluding headgear) after each use in soap dissolved in lukewarm water, without soaking more than 10 minutes, and rinse thoroughly. Hand wash the headgear after 7 days of use the same way. Let everything dry out of direct sunlight. Do not use products containing alcohol, antibacterial agents, antiseptic, bleach, chlorine or moisturizer, do not use a dishwasher, and do not use ozone or UV "CPAP cleaners" (the FDA warned about these in 2020).

Frequently asked questions

What is the RollFit XT cushion on the F&P Vitera?

It is a cushion designed to roll on the bridge of the nose as you move, so the seal adjusts with you instead of breaking. F&P says it also reduces pressure on the nasal bridge.

Can I buy Vitera headgear and cushions in different sizes?

Yes. Cushions come in S, M and L, and headgear comes in S and M-L as separate spare parts.

Is the F&P Vitera safe with a pacemaker?

The Vitera does not use magnets, so the magnet warnings that apply to some other masks do not apply to it. Your clinician should still confirm the right mask for you.
