Tubing
CPAP tubing cover
A fabric sleeve that slips over CPAP tubing to insulate it, reduce condensation and make the hose feel softer against your skin.
Why it helps
A cover insulates plain tubing a little, which can reduce rainout in a cool room, and it stops the cold, slightly sticky feel of plastic against your arm or face. It also muffles the sound of the hose brushing against bedding. It is a low cost step to try before, or alongside, heated tubing.
How to choose
Match the cover to your tube's length and diameter (standard versus slim). Choose a washable fabric such as fleece or knit, and check that it has a closure or elastic at the ends so it does not slide off. If rainout is your main problem, heated tubing is the more reliable fix.
Check your heated tube's instructions before covering it. Take the cover off and wash it regularly, since it holds skin oils and dust.
Frequently asked questions
Does a tubing cover stop rainout?
It can reduce condensation in plain tubing by insulating it, but it does not heat the air. Heated tubing is the more reliable fix for persistent rainout.
Can I use a tubing cover on heated tubing?
Check the heated tube's manual first. If it allows a cover, it is mostly for comfort and noise rather than temperature.
